Did you know that a pinecone, petals of a flower, a spider web and even your own face have mathematics hidden within them? If you look closely at nature, there is an exciting story of mathematics behind it. All the amazing technology we use today has used mathematics to problem solve and create new technology we will continue to see develop into our futures.
At Elizabeth North Primary School we are developing tomorrow’s problem solvers by using the Big Idea in Number framework to build knowledge of student skills in numeracy. Our students engage with learning tasks and problematized situations to apply their learning into new contexts, and solve a variety of problems. Students are also supported to increase their resiliency in learning by engaging with the language and actions of a growth mindset. With an attitude of never giving up, who knows where these students may take their learning in the future?
